1,000 people allowed to attend the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Spain
The Spanish Grand Prix organizers announced today, Monday, that 1,000 members of the circuit will be allowed to attend the fourth round of the season in the Formula 1 World Championship after relaxing local Covid-19 restrictions.
The race will be held on May 9 in the hometown of Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz and two-time world champion Fernando Alonso and Alpine driver.
Circuit de Catalunya announced last month that the race would be held behind closed doors due to the epidemic, but today officials of the region announced that fans of a maximum of 1,000 people would be allowed to attend events outside the halls.
The circuit includes more than a thousand people, and the attendees will be randomly selected through a draw.
“We have an opportunity to be a benchmark in terms of safe sport,” said Director General Josep Luis Santa Maria.
