A message from Johnson to the England national team ahead of the Euro 2020 final
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson sent his best wishes to the “dazzling” England football team, ahead of the Euro 2020 final against Italy on Sunday.
Johnson praised the team’s “fantastic” performance in the tournament, in a letter addressed to coach Gareth Southgate and the players.
He said England had “really made history” by reaching the final of a major international competition.
It is noteworthy that the final match, Sunday, at Wembley Stadium is the first that the England team has reached since winning the World Cup in 1966.
Johnson was at Wembley on Wednesday when England beat Denmark 2-1 to reach the final.
He told the national team: “You have made a team of brothers whose cooperation and determination appear bright and visible in everything you do.”
