Al Hilal Saudi sacks its Brazilian coach Micali
The management of Al Hilal Saudi Club announced on Sunday the dismissal of Brazilian coach Rogiero Micali and the appointment of Jose Moraes as his replacement until the end of the season.
The decision to dismiss Michali came after Al Hilal faced the specter of leaving the AFC Champions League group stage, before qualifying for the next round thanks to the results of the other groups.
Al-Hilal said in a statement, “Al-Hilal management terminated the agreement with Portuguese coach Jose (Jose) Moraes and his assistant technical staff, to lead the technical staff of the Al-Hilal first football team until the end of the current sports season, instead of Brazilian coach Rogiero Micali.”
Al-Hilal indicated that he was awaiting the arrival of Moraes and his auxiliary crew to Riyadh late on Sunday evening.
Hilal spoke about Morais’ career, who passed “many training stations, some of them in the Kingdom, and the last of which was with South Korean Jeonbuk, where he led him to achieve the Korean League twice, in addition to the Korean Cup.”
“On a personal level, Morais won the Best Coach Award in South Korea in 2019.” Moraes previously supervised the Saudi Al-Shabab and Al-Hazm clubs, and his choice comes at the present time due to his knowledge of Saudi football.
Moraes worked for long periods as a first assistant with the veteran Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho.
