Al Thumama Stadium announces its readiness to receive the final of the Amir Cup
Persons with disabilities will be able to attend the final match of His Highness the Emir’s Football Cup, which brings together Al Rayyan and Al Sadd on October 22, at the opening of Al Thumama Stadium, the sixth stadium for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The Supreme Council for Projects and Legacy said in a tweet on its official account on Twitter: Qatar 2022 stadiums are characterized by easy access and movement for fans with disabilities, including Al Thumama Stadium, which will witness the Emir Cup final on October 22. The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy added in the same tweet: “Now fans with disabilities can register for a fan card to attend the match.” The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy published pictures of Al Thumama World Cup Stadium, showing the preparation of all matters to receive fans with disabilities and allocating places for them in Al Thumama Stadium, which was decorated for the precious final and celebration of its readiness for the Qatar World Cup 2022. It is noteworthy that the 2022 World Cup stadiums have been equipped with what is necessary to enrich the experience of fans with disabilities, to make the tournament the most enjoyable and distinguished, and this includes gates and paths to enter and exit the stadium, and sit in comfortable seats while watching the matches. This experience also includes the support provided by volunteers and work teams. The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy launched the Empowerment Forum in 2016, which consists of 80 members belonging to 25 bodies and institutions, including persons with disabilities and representatives of local organizations concerned in this regard. The forum aims to ensure the provision of a smooth experience for fans with disabilities during the tournament by evaluating and consulting on plans before commencing their implementation to ensure the achievement of the desired results. Since its inception, the forum has been able to introduce improvements to enrich the experience of fans with disabilities, including requiring each volunteer and employee to receive training on standards of accessibility and accessibility during major football tournaments and events, and the development of many major entertainment venues in Doha and improving their accessibility for people with disabilities.
