Barcelona announces his contract with Argentine Aguero, the historic scorer for Manchester City
Barcelona confirmed in an official statement today, Monday, its contract with Argentine Sergio Aguero, Manchester City striker, and he will officially join his ranks after the end of his contract with City at the end of next June. The Catalan club’s statement read: “Aguero joins Barcelona under a contract that extends until the end of the 2022/2023 season, with a penalty clause of 100 million euros.” Aguero, 32, joined the ranks of City from Atlético de Madrid in 2011, and scored 260 goals in 389 matches in various competitions, dedicated to him as the club’s best scorer in the club’s history, and helped him win the Premier League title five times, most recently in the past season. Aguero was expected to be Barcelona’s first new deal this summer, as new club president Juan Laporta is looking to renew the squad after finishing the last season of the Spanish League in third place. Local media speculated that City defender Eric Garcia, Aguero’s teammate, would join him in Barcelona alongside Dutch duo Memphis Depay and Jorginho Wijnaldum.
