Brazil opens Copa America with a 3-0 win over Venezuela
Brazil opened the 2021 Copa America soccer tournament with a 3-0 victory over Venezuela, on Sunday evening, after controlling the inexperienced opponent from start to finish in a one-sided match. Defender Marquinhos scored the first goal in the middle of the first half when he was lucky to hit the heel of an opponent’s defender before entering the visitors’ net. Neymar added his 67th international goal when he took a penalty after 19 minutes of the second half after Danilo got a mistake inside the area. Substitute Gabriel Barbosa made the score 3-0 two minutes before the end when he met with his chest a cross from Neymar, who skillfully dribbled the goalkeeper and then set up the goal. Brazil will play the next match against Peru on June 17, while Venezuela will play Colombia the next day.
