Dembele’s troubles don’t end.. a new surgery for the third time

Barcelona and France striker Ousmane Dembele’s troubles with injuries continued on Tuesday, after the Spanish club announced that he would need surgery to treat a knee problem that forced him to withdraw from the European Football Championship. Dembele was injured during France’s 1-1 draw with Hungary, last Saturday, after he took part as a substitute for one of his colleagues and clearly reinforced his team’s attack. The French national team said, on Monday, that Dembele will miss the end of the tournament. Barcelona stated that the 24-year-old injured ligaments in his right knee and will need surgical intervention. This will be the third time that Dembele has undergone surgery since joining Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, for 105 million euros, in addition to other bonuses. Dembele suffered a hamstring muscle tear in September 2017, after his first start with Barcelona, ​​to be absent for the next four months. He suffered the same injury in November 2019 and had to undergo surgery again to stay away from competitions for about 9 months. And during 4 seasons with Barcelona, ​​he participated in only 54 matches out of 152 he played in the Spanish League, and the latest injury comes at a difficult time for him and his club, exactly one year before the end of his contract with the Catalan team.
