Denmark achieves a stunning victory over Russia in an exciting match
Denmark beat Russia 4-1 in a thrilling match at Parken Stadium, to advance to the round of 16 in the European Football Championship, after losing its opponents Finland in the second group to Belgium. Belgium won all three of its group matches, Denmark finished second with three points, while Finland ranked third on goal difference. Michael Damsgaard put Denmark in front with a superb shot in the 38th minute, and Joseph Poulsen doubled the lead after taking advantage of the error of Romanzo Benin, the Russian player, who returned the ball back to Damsgaard and scored in the 59th minute. Artem Guiba reduced the difference for Russia with a penalty kick in the 70th minute, but a massive shot from Andreas Christensen and a fourth goal from Joachim Maille completed the great victory over Russia, to make up for the defeat of Denmark in the first two matches, to qualify for the sixteenth round against all expectations and face Wales in Amsterdam On June 26th.
