Gulf 25Iraq insists on hosting

A meeting of the presidents of the federations is scheduled to be held within one month to make the final decision to name the organizing country, the Gulf Union said in a statement. The Iraqi Football Federation has applied to host the tournament in Basra, but security difficulties may prevent the gulf federation from agreeing, which is likely to be held in Qatar for the second time in a row after hosting the last edition in December 2019, where the Qatari Federation submitted an alternative file in case Basra is unable to provide hosting standards.

The Gulf Cup football federation postponed the decision of the host country for the next version of the Gulf Cup “Gulf 25” to a meeting of the presidents of the federations representing the General Assembly of the Federation, to be held within a month, while Iraq insisted on hosting the city of Basra for the finals.
