Italy beats Belgium to reach Euro 2020 semi-finals
Italy beat Spain in the semi-finals of the European Football Championship, after scoring two goals in the first half through Nicolo Barilla and Lorenzo Insigne, to win 2-1 over Belgium, on Friday, in an exciting match in which each team presented many opportunities. Italy, who will meet Spain in London on Tuesday, opened the scoring in the 31st minute with Barilla’s shot from inside the area. Insigne doubled the lead in the 44th minute with a long-range shot that tricked goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Romelu Lukaku reduced the difference for Belgium with a penalty before the break, after Giovanni Di Lorenzo had fouled his opponent, Jeremy Duco. Earlier, Spain beat Switzerland after a thrilling 3-1 penalty shootout victory against the struggling Switzerland, who completed the match with ten men, but held on to a 1-1 draw after extra time.
