Marquinhos repeats the achievement of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League

Brazilian defender Marquinhos, Paris Saint-Germain, achieved a remarkable record during his team’s match against Manchester City (1-2) on Wednesday, in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals.

Marquinhos scored the goal for the Parisian team with a header after a corner kick, at the 15th minute of the first half of the match that took place at the “Princes Park” stadium in the capital, Paris.

Marquinhos became the third player in the history of the tournament to succeed in scoring during the quarter and semi-finals rounds, in two consecutive seasons, according to Opta Statistics.

Only Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo achieved this achievement with Real Madrid in the seasons (2011-12 – 2012-13 – 2013-14), and Frenchman Antoine Griezmann with Atletico Madrid in the seasons (2015-16 and 2016-17).

It is noteworthy that Marquinhos, 26, scored his fifth goal in the last 12 matches in the Champions League.
