Officially.. Paris Saint-Germain sign Wijnaldum
French club Paris Saint-Germain announced today, Thursday, the signing of Dutch international midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, on a free transfer. And the Parisian club published, through its official account on “Twitter”, the video of the announcement of the contract deal Wijnaldum, who signed a contract under which he will defend the colors of the French capital team until the summer of 2024. “Signing with PSG is a new challenge for me,” Wijnaldum told Saint-Germain’s website. “I have joined one of the best teams in Europe, and I will do everything in my power to contribute to the success of the club’s ambitious project,” he added. Wijnaldum, 30, refused to renew his contract with his former team, Liverpool, to leave him at the end of the season for free. The international midfielder played 237 games with Liverpool, during which he scored 22 goals, and was crowned with the “Reds” in the English Premier League title, the Champions League, the European Super Cup, and the Club World Cup. The Dutchman was on the cusp of joining Barcelona, as the Catalan club offered the player an annual salary of 4 million euros, but Paris Saint-Germain pounced on the deal and turned the balance in his favour.
