The Arab Cup draw .. Intensive preparations and precautionary measures
The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, responsible for organizing the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, is intensifying its preparations with the start of the countdown to the draw for the Arab Cup for football teams, which will be held in the Qatari capital Doha during the period from the first until the 18th of next December.
The draw ceremony will be held at the Opera House in the Cultural Village (Katara) tomorrow, Tuesday, to learn about the journey of 23 Arab teams in this exceptional edition, which is held in difficult circumstances due to the spread of the Corona virus, which caused the suspension of sports activity around the world.
Attendance during the lottery will be limited to only a limited number of officials, in line with precautionary measures to limit the spread of the Corona epidemic.
And the arrival of heads of missions and representatives of delegations participating in the lottery has already begun, and everyone who arrives at the headquarters of the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) in Doha enters the health bubble, after conducting a corona swab and the appearance of its negative result.
No one is allowed to enter or exit the bubble, according to strict instructions from FIFA and the Supreme Committee to keep everyone safe.
The hotel residence of the delegations witnessed a great movement and transformation into a beehive by the organizers to conduct the swabs and receive the guests, and there are in the hotel beside the delegations, representatives of the various media who also entered the bubble to cover this great event that is receiving extraordinary and different attention from the previous versions of the tournament, the fact that FIFA is the organizer of the Arab Cup, in partnership with the State of Qatar.
The tournament is also receiving great Arab and international attention, as it is the first time that all Arab countries participate without exception (23 teams), as well as a good and distinctive dress rehearsal for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
It is expected that the match schedule and tournament system will be revealed, which is expected to spare the top 10 teams according to the FIFA world rankings issued on the 7th of this month, from playing the preliminary rounds to qualify directly for the group stage, while the remaining 13 teams will play in the preliminary round, and 6 teams will qualify for the round. Groups, for a total of 16 teams.
In the group stage, there will be 4 groups of 4 teams, with the first and second place winners from each group advancing to the knockout rounds.
The Arab Cup competitions will feature 12 teams from Asia, which are Qatar, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Iraq, as well as Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Yemen and Bahrain.
In addition to 11 teams from Africa, which are Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya, as well as Somalia, Sudan, Comoros, Djibouti, Mauritania and South Sudan.
The Tunisian national team tops the classification of the Arab teams participating in the tournament, then the Algerian, Moroccan and Egyptian teams, while Qatar is the fifth in the Arab classification and is the leader of the Asian Arab teams, followed by the Saudi team.
It is noteworthy that the ten teams, according to the current FIFA classification, that will qualify directly for the group stage of the Arab Cup 2021 are: Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Qatar, as well as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the Emirates, Syria and Oman.
