The United States and the Czech Republic have withdrawn from the World Handball Championship in Egypt

and the International Handball Federation has confirmed the withdrawal of the United States and the Czech Republic from the World Championships, which will be held from January 13 to 31 in Egypt, following an outbreak of coronavirus between the players of the two teams.

“The U.S. handball team has been officially informed of its withdrawal from the World Championships after several positive cases of Coved-19 in compulsory tests,” the IAAF said on its website.

“The United States is therefore the second country to withdraw due to the many positive cases of Coved-19 after the Czech Republic cancelled its participation on Tuesday,” he added.
