The United States defeats Qatar in the Gold Cup final
Qatar shook the net in the last minutes to lose 0-1 to the United States, in the semi-finals of the Gold Cup, and the visit of the guest team in the continental championship stopped.
Hassan Al-Haydos missed a penalty kick for the Qatari team, participating in the Confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF), with a wild card, after 61 minutes, before Gyasi Zardes scored the winning goal for the hosting United States in the 86th minute.
The United States will meet in the final with Mexico, which scored a goal in the ninth minute of stoppage time, to defeat Canada 2-1.
The Mexican team advanced at the end of the first half through Orbelin Pineda from a penalty kick, and Canada equalized the score through Tajon Buchanan in the 57th minute.
In the 99th minute, Hector Herrera scored the winning goal for the Mexican national team, which won the title in 2019.
The United States and Mexico have won the Gold Cup since 2002, with each winning 5 titles in the continental championship during that period.
