Wimbledon: Kyrgios delays match “because of his shoes”
Tennis player Nick Kyrgios thought he was all set for a third-round match at Wimbledon, only to discover he had left his shoes in the locker room. The Australian caused a delay in his match against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, on Saturday, because he did not have the appropriate grass boots when he took to the field. “I left my tennis shoes in the locker room,” Kyrgios said with a timid smile, forcing the players to stand for two minutes before they could start to warm up. “One day I thought I was a professional,” Kyrgios joked, noting that he had all his rackets and clothes on him. He continued, “I came out here very confidently, but I left the shoes in the locker room.” The warm-up was finally possible after a Wimbledon employee appeared with Kyrgios shoes on. Kyrgios was forced to withdraw from the match later due to an injury, to be eliminated from Wimbledon in the third round.
